Some folks still think of Houston as an economy dominated by energy - or more importantly by the price of a barrel of oil. Having grown up in Dallas I remember hearing about the ups and downs in Houston. Today, however, Houston is a massive metropolitan area whose reliance on energy has dwindled to a sustainable but meaningful 10-15%. We like the rent growth Houston is showing combined with it's relatively strong economic performance during the pandemic.
